I think I took this at the third or fourth hole (you can check the gps data). This is pastor Gary Galbraith of Revival Christian Fellowship on the fairway at Bear Creek in Murrieta during the tournament I shot last week.

I took this while the camera was in the grass looking up at about 20 degrees or so. I love to change the perspective, and see what I get. I like the open feel of this shot. I cropped it wide for effect.

I shot a golf tournament at Bear Creek in Murrieta this morning. It was the first time I shot golf, and I was determinded to look at the game from a different angle then normally seen in the sports pages.

In the end, I came away with some shots I really liked, and some shots that were good, but "normal" looking in my mind. It is hard shooting with creativity in mind, but at the same time covering the event.

This shot was taken with the camera literally in the grass, and guessing how it would be framed. I was happy that I guessed the camera position correctly. I needed the club directly in the center to focus correctly. This player was leaning on his club while waiting for his turn at the putting contest.

The light is all natural, this is right out of the camera.

The ambient light does not effect the shot. I always verify this by using a light meter ahead of time. My meter showed the strobes at 100%, so I was good to go.

I always take a setup shot, for those that are curious, and also for my memory.

6 frame panorama of the Borrego Springs valley.

I took this a few weeks ago, when it was clear, and virtually no moisture in the air. You can easily see the Salton Sea and beyond. It was a great view that day. It is not normally this clear because of the moisture in the air caused by heat rising etc.

Good luck to the LA group shooting there today, I opted out because of the cold and potential wind. I will get out there in the next week or so.

I do know that I need a good 100mm macro, so I will either buy one, or rent one in the next few days. I shot primarily with my 50 1.4 today (my favorite lens).

For the geeks, I extracted my log file out of my Garmin that was attached to my car windshield.

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse stood watch over the entrance to San Diego Bay for 36 years. At dusk on November 15, 1855 the light keeper climbed the winding stairs and lit the light for the first time. What seemed to be a good location 422 feet above sea level, however, had a serious flaw. Fog and low clouds often obscured the light. On March 23, 1891 the light was extinguished and the keeper moved to a new lighthouse location closer to the water at the tip of the Point.

Today the Old Point Loma Light House still stands watch over San Diego, sentinel to a vanished past. The National Park Service has refurbished the interior to its historic 1880’s appearance — a reminder of a bygone era. Ranger-led talks, displays and brochures are available to explain the lighthouses interesting past.
