I have been a Blockbuster member for some time, and have recently noticed a significant slow down in the processing and shipping of movies. Do they only process during the week now?
I have a three at a time plan, and with several movies in the queue that show available, they still have not been shipped, or added to the at home section as processing. I called the phone number that is not easily found (here it is: 1-866-692-2789), and the guy kept telling me that I need to have at least 15 movies in the queue to guarantee that movies will continue to ship. I explained to him that I have had movies that show available in my queue for the last week, and they still have not shipped, and he did not have an answer for that. The long wait movies will never come if I fill my queue with movies that I don’t need anyway. Don’t get me started on the long wait movies either.
I also noticed that the in store exchanges now show in the at home section, and that is a bummer. I am only keeping my blockbuster account because of the in store exchanges. If they keep changing their shipping and processing policies, then I will cancel. I told they guy that I will tell thousands of people that Blockbuster online is bad, so I am simply living up to my promise: BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE NOW IS HORRIBLE, AND DO NOT SIGN UP FOR NEW SERVICE.
To all the people that I recommended Blockbuster online to: My apologies !

I’ve been hearing a lot about this. I used to use Blockbuster online when they had a promo going. I went from Netflix to Blockbuster, back to Netflix. Now I use a VUDU Box. I hope I don’t have to switch again.
Blockbuster has become very very slow to the point that they are not honoring the terms of my plan. I returned my movies on Saturday morning at the store. They marked them returned immediately and I received confirmation emails on Monday that the center had received the mailed discs. Today is Tuesday 7PM and still nothing has been sent out to me. I have a 3 at a time program and for 3 days nothing has been out. It appears they are delaying shipments in order to reduce costs and stay in business. At this point they are worse than Netflix who is making $$. I should also mention I have 20 available DVD’s in my que. Ship by the next business day…the courts do not define this as weekday but days the business is open…Blockbuster stores are open everyday while the online can ship all but Sun.
I have the same issue. I have emails and confirmation that the movies were marked returned on Friday. Here it is Wednesday, I have 30 movies in my queue most all are available, and I still have no movies shipped. I am ready to cancel my account as well and either use Netflix, or just the redboxes and their competitors which is a shame as I have been a blockbuster online member for over 3 years now.
I recently signed up for Blockbuster and the first month or so they were like lightening in shipping movies from my queue. But when I became laid up for about 3-4 weeks and going through the movies quickly – then what was a 2 day turnaround became a full week. My queue would sit empty for days waiting for something to ship.
There’s little doubt they’re using an algorithm to slowdown high usage customers to preserve their profit line.
I’ve had the same problem. I used to be able to watch two movies a week (I’m on the one at a time plan) and now with the delays it’s only once a week. I’m going to cancel and switch myself.
Same here. We returned our last movie almost two weeks ago and I have not had a damn thing mailed to me since, even though I have dozens of available titles in the queue. Thus is getting ridiculous. Customer service just apologizes and emails me a coupon. I’ve had more in store movies by coupon than mail order ones lately!
Evidently, everybody at Blockbuster has decided to just quit working, or they want all their subscribers to quit. I have the 3-at-a-time unlimited plan. They have been taking as much as ten days to ship a movie, AFTER they register it as returned. So from the time I send a movie back, it is two weeks before I get another one. Even worse, all my movies had been received back at the start of this month–meaning they should ship three more, right? Nope. It’s the 29th, and they still have only shipped two movies TOTAL for the entire month. I’m done!
I can’t believe this slow service. I agree it is very odd they aren’t checking in the movies and sending them out right away. I am on a free trial and I am going to cancel. This would not be worth paying for. They are way too slow in shipping movies!
They have changed the way they ship movies, no doubt about it.
I use to drop the movie off at the local store as it was on my way to work, they would immediately ship the next movie (unless you took one out). Now, I think they actually wait until the movie is back at their facility before shipping the next one out.
This is starting to become ridiculous, I’m seriously thinking about moving over to Netflix, BB Online just isn’t working for me anymore if the store option return has been removed.
I too have noticed how slow the turnaround has become with the mailers. I asked the store yesterday (11/7) what the deal was and the manager told me that the postman only comes Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays where they used to come six days a week. I asked her if this was a Blockbuster decision or the post office’s decision. Of course, she said the post office. I’m getting closer and closer to cancelling.
Signed up for the trial 3 at a time on Monday Nov 9th. Had over 10 “availables” and first disc to process was on Friday Nov 13th. Received it on Monday Nov 17th. Returned it the next day, and it’s been processing status for my next disc (transformers 2) since yesterday morning Nov 19th. That’s toooooooo slow for me to be a customer, bye bye Blockbuster. Haven’t used netflix since 2006 or 2007 since they discontinued HD DVD, but now I got a ps3 so I should pay the extra bucks and get faster service unless Netflix is as bad now… let me go research!
oops got my dates all wrong lol Monday Nov 16th, and yesterday morning as in Nov 18th!!****
I am having the same problem. But this only started recently for me. I previously had been very happy with my Blockbuster Online service. It was usually only taking 2 or 3 days at the most between dropping a return in the mail, or returning a rental to to the store, and receiving a new DVD. Now it has been almost a WEEK since received my return and they are still “processing your next shipment”. The problem is definitely with Blockbuster and not the mail. If this keeps up I will definitely drop Blockbuster for Netflix.
BTW I have 322 titles in my queue so it’s not a matter of availability.
I definitely will not be buying a gift subscription this year as this would be a crappy gift.
Here too. Contacted them twice via email, get the generic “you must have 15…”. I think there is only ONE meaning in English for the word “available”. If they can’t ship it TODAY, IT IS NOT AVAILABLE, no matter if they are 15 or just 1.
BTW, I do have 15 available, still there are delays.
I’ve had an ongoing problem for over a month with Blockbuster. It started with a movie stuck in the “processing” stage. After many complaints it was removed but now my account only processes one movie at a time even though I pay for 2 at a time. I’ve exchanged almost a dozen emails and called 4 times. My complaints have resulted in a few movie rental coupons and a discount off the subscription price but the problem continues. After the discounted period ends I’ll be cancel the account. The service is poor and 75% of the movies in my queue are long wait or very long wait anyhow so it’s really not worth the price even with the in store exchanges as compared to Netflix.
